RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Southeast Division Champion Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned goaltender Randy Petruk to their International Hockey League affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones. The Hurricanes roster now stands at 29.
Petruk (5'9", 185 lbs.) posted a 13-10-2 record and a 2.75 goals against average in 25 games last season with the Hurricanes' East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate Florida Everblades. Acquired from the Colorado Avalanche on June 1, 1998, the Cranbrook, British Columbia native also played one game for the Beast of New Haven of the American Hockey League (AHL) during his first professional season last year.
The Hurricanes are 2-2-0-0 in the 1999 Preseason following their 4-1 victory against the Washington Capitals last night in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Carolina has three games remaining in the preseason including games against the Atlanta Thrashers in Charleston, South Carolina on Friday, September 24, 1999, the Florida Panthers in Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, September 25, 1999, and the Washington Capitals in Norfolk, Virginia on Tuesday, September 28, 1999.
