Hurricanes Assign Petruzalek to Albany

Training camp roster now stands at 32 players

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, announced Friday evening that the team has assigned forward Jakub Petruzalek (YA-khub peh-troo-ZAL-ehk) to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

Petruzalek, 22, played 14:04 during the Hurricanes' 3-0 win against the Nashville Predators on Friday. Carolina acquired the Litvinov, Czech Republic, native from the New York Rangers on Nov. 21, 2006, in exchange for forward Brad Isbister.

The Albany River Rats, Carolina's top minor-league affiliate, begin their training camp next week and will open their preseason schedule against the Syracuse Crunch on Sept. 28, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Houston Field House in Troy, NY.

The Hurricanes continue their six-game preseason schedule on Saturday at Nashville?s' Sommet Center at 8 p.m. ET, rounding out a back-to-back, home-and-home set between the clubs.
