Hurricanes Assign Four Players To Cincinnati (IHL)

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Southeast Division Champion Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned goaltender Mark Fitzpatrick, defenseman Mike Rucinski, and forwards Craig MacDonald and Ian MacNeil to its International Hockey League affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones. The Hurricanes roster now stands at 25.

Fitzpatrick (6'2'', 198 lbs.) played in two of the Hurricanes preseason games, posting an 0-2-0 record with a 2.50 goals against average and an .875 save percentage. Rucinski (5'11'', 188 lbs.) made three appearances for Carolina, collecting two assists. MacDonald (6'1'', 183 lbs.) played in six of the Hurricanes games, scoring two points (1g,1a). MacNeil (6'2'', 175 lbs.) appeared in two preseason games, registering three shots on goal.

Carolina is 3-2-1-0 in the 1999 Preseason following its 2-2 tie against the Florida Panthers Saturday night in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Hurricanes play the Washington Capitals Tuesday in Norfolk, Virginia, for their final preseason game. The Hurricanes open the regular season on Saturday, October 2, against the Boston Bruins at the FleetCenter in Boston.
