West named Vice President of Business Operations, Prairie promoted to Director of Ticket Sales

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 13, 2004) – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that Matt West has been named the team’s Vice President of Business Operations. In addition, Kyle Prairie has been promoted to Director of Ticket Sales.

West, who completed his fourth season with the Hurricanes in 2003-04, previously served as the Vice President of Corporate Sales and Marketing. He will now oversee all aspects of sales and marketing for the team. Prior to joining the Hurricanes in Corporate Sales during the 2000-01 season, West served as the Director of Sales for the Durham Bulls Baseball Club. He began his full-time experience in sports administration in 1995 following a 15-year career in professional baseball that included stints as a player, coach and manager with the Atlanta Braves organization. West and his wife, Juliana, reside in Durham with their daughters Grace, Mary Margaret and Helen.

Kyle Prairie completed his seventh season with the Hurricanes in 2003-04, serving as the team’s Ticket Sales Manager for the past three years. As the Director of Ticket Sales, Prairie will oversee the ticket sales staff with regards to season, corporate and group ticket sales. During his time as Ticket Sales Manager, Prairie was recognized as a Triangle Business Journal Salesperson of the Year in 2003. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, Prairie served as an account representative with Tomcat Brewing Company and an account executive with Arch Communications. A graduate of N.C. State University, Prairie and his wife, Amy reside in Fuquay-Varina with their 2-year-old daughter Lily.
