RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the team’s 23-player active roster for the opening of the 2008-09 season. The NHL required that all teams submit their season-opening rosters by today at 3 p.m.
The Hurricanes’ final roster includes two goaltenders, eight defensemen and 13 forwards. Right wing Scott Walker will start the season on the injured reserve list, while right wing Justin Williams is on the non-roster injured list. A complete 23-player roster is attached to this release.
Tickets still remain for the Hurricanes’ season-opening game on Friday night against the Florida Panthers, and for Monday night’s showdown with the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings. The games mark the team’s only home games for the month of October, as the Hurricanes embark on a six-game road trip following Monday night’s game.
