RALEIGH, NC (January 5, 2001) – Jim Rutherford, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today the team has activated right wing Shane Willis from the Injured Reserve list. To make room on the roster, the Hurricanes reassigned center Greg Koehler to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the International Hockey League.

Willis was placed on the Injured Reserve list December 27 because of back spasms. He is sixth on the team in scoring with 8 goals and 10 assists for 18 points, and is tied for sixth among National Hockey League rookies in scoring. Willis is tied for second in rookie power play goals with 5.

Koehler made his National Hockey League debut December 29 at Columbus and was scoreless. Koehler, Cincinnati’s leading goal scorer with 15 and second in points with 26, was a healthy scratch in two games.
