RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has activated goaltender Cam Ward from injured reserve. In order to make room for Ward on the active roster, the team reassigned goaltender Justin Peters to Albany of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Ward, 24, has missed Carolina’s last four games with a groin injury suffered against Anaheim on Nov. 30. Prior to the injury, Ward had posted a record of 8-7-2 with a 2.68 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. In 175 career NHL games with Carolina, Ward is 89-61-15 with a 2.94 goals-against average.
Peters did not make an appearance during his first NHL recall, serving as the backup goaltender behind Michael Leighton for four games.
