RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has activated defenseman Anton Babchuk from injured reserve. Babchuk, who has missed Carolina’s last three games with an elbow injury, is eligible to play in the Hurricanes’ game tonight against the Florida Panthers.
Babchuk., 24, has totaled one goal and three assists (4 points) in 22 games this season. The Kiev, Ukraine native was originally acquired by the Hurricanes from the Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 20, 2006, in exchange for Danny Richmond. In 118 career NHL games with Chicago and Carolina, he has totaled eight goals, 22 assists (30 points) and 62 penalty minutes.
