Comstock and Snyder to Wed on Ice, Feb. 14
RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes and 96 Rock (WBBB-FM 96.1) today announced the winner of their Valentine’s Day promotion that will marry one couple during an intermission of the Hurricanes’ game on Feb. 14 against Washington. Diane Comstock and her fiancée Mike Snyder were selected from several hundred entries submitted online via 96 Rock’s and other Curtis Media Group stations’ websites.
Comstock and Snyder were engaged last spring and celebrated their engagement day by attending Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on May 12, 2002, when the Hurricanes downed Montreal, 5-1.
“Ever just know when you’ve met the ONE, the LOVE of your life?!” said Comstock in her online entry. “We laughed, cheered, danced and sang through the Hurricane season… we were hooked… fans & lovers for life!! So, why should WE be the lucky ones to MARRY on ice? Because WE are… CANIACS… and WE ARE IN LOVE…!!!”
The Hurricanes and 96 Rock joined forces to marry a lucky couple during the Hurricanes’ game on Valentine’s Day. The ceremony will be performed by Wake County Magistrate Jeff Roland and Dixie of the Hurricanes Storm Squad and 96 Rock’s morning man Chopper Harrison will serve as the wedding party.
Comstock and Snyder will receive two luxury-suite tickets to Friday’s game and dinner for two in the RBC Center club restaurant. Along with the marriage ceremony, tickets and dinner, the couple also receives honeymoon accommodations for four days and three nights and lift tickets at Snowshoe Mountain ski resort in Snowshoe, West Virginia, a rehearsal dinner from Outback Steakhouse, a gift certificate from Bailey’s Fine Jewelry and a gift basket from Lindt Chocolatier of Crabtree Valley Mall.
The Hurricanes wrap up their four-game road swing tonight at Dallas (8:30 p.m., Fox SportsNet) before returning to RBC Center for Friday’s game against Washington. Tickets for Friday’s game and all Hurricanes games are available via the team’s official website, CarolinaHurricanes.com, the Dodge Box Office at RBC Center or by calling 919-834-4000.
