RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will collect diapers from Feb. 14-19, as part of “Hockey for Huggies,” a joint initiative between the NHL and Huggies. Fans donating a box of diapers to the drive will receive ticket discounts to upcoming Hurricanes games.
“Hockey for Huggies” is part of Huggies’ Every Little Bottom campaign, and is aimed to collect diapers and donations for families and babies in need across North America. During the month of February, all 30 NHL member clubs will host a “Hockey for Huggies” night to collect diapers and donations. The program was announced by Carolina Hurricanes captain Eric Staal, his wife Tanya and "Grey's Anatomy" television star Ellen Pompeo at the NHL Fan Fair™, the official NHL fan festival for the 2011 NHL® All-Star Weekend.
Donations for the diaper drive can be turned in at the Time Warner Cable Box Office at the RBC Center from Feb. 14-19. Hurricanes wives and girlfriends will be on hand at all RBC Center entrances to help collect donations prior to the team’s game on Feb. 19 against New Jersey. Fans donating an unopened box of diapers of any size or quantity will receive $20 off Lower Level North and Lower Level South seating, or $10 off Balcony Premier seating, to select regular-season games. Ticket discounts can be used for the following home games:
- Feb. 22 vs. New York Rangers
- March 1 vs. Florida Panthers
- March 3 vs. Buffalo Sabres
- March 9 vs. Atlanta Thrashers
- March 16 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
- March 22 vs. Ottawa Senators
- March 30 vs. Montreal Canadiens
