Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters spoke with the media after his team's morning skate today. He confirmed that Cam Ward would start against the Flyers tonight and Scott Darling would get the call on Sunday evening in Brooklyn. Here's some more from the bench boss.
On rebounding from a tough loss on Tuesday: "I want the same time of effort and intensity we had the other night. We've got to go out and play a 60-minute game. We've got to get contributions from everybody."
On the final 12 games of the season: "Hope is still alive, for sure, but we're running out of track. We've got to get some wins. We no longer control our own destiny, I don't think, so we've got to make sure we look after ourselves. That's our objective."
On explaining the Canes' 3-6-1 record in their last 10 games: "We'll do that at the end of the year. We've got a back-to-back here. … We play two games in 22 hours and have a real important game here today. The philosophizing and summarizing of the year will happen at the end of the year."

CANES LOOK TO GET BACK ON TRACK AGAINST FLYERS
12:00 a.m.
With 12 games remaining in the 2017-18 regular season, the Carolina Hurricanes are looking to break out of a tough stretch of hockey.
The Canes have earned just two of a possible 10 points in their last five games (1-4-0), a stretch that culminated on Tuesday night in a stunning 6-4 loss to the Boston Bruins.
Through 50 minutes against Boston, the Hurricanes played a game worthy of two points and held a seemingly commanding 4-1 lead. Then, in the span of just 77 seconds, the Bruins tied the game at four. Shortly after, they took a 5-4 lead with a power-play goal and then punctuated their victory with an empty-net tally.
That left the Hurricanes stunned and searching for answers.
"You let one goal turn into another one turn into another one, and I don't know what else to say," said Justin Williams, who scored one of the Canes' four goals. "I'm very stunned right now, so reflection is kind of tough."
"I don't want to say we gave them the game because they're a good team and good teams do that. It just took them one chance," Justin Faulk said. "I don't really know how to explain what just happened. It's tough."
With three days separating that result and Saturday's Metropolitan Division showdown with the Philadelphia Flyers, the Hurricanes have had ample time to sift through what went awry so as to learn from it and move forward.
"A few too many times where we've had situations that we've had to say, 'How do we regroup from this?'" Faulk said. "Besides the cliché answer of taking time off, coming back ready to go and putting in the work, I don't really have much for you."
The Hurricanes got back on the ice for what was a spirited practice on Thursday: some battle, some hard work, some enthusiasm. The team won't go quietly into the night down the stretch of the season.
"You've got to work hard, have fun and score goals. It's all about competition," head coach Bill Peters said. "You want the competitive juices flowing all the time."
Saturday's game against Philadelphia, the third of four times the two divisional opponents will meet this season, begins another back-to-back set for the Canes that then concludes on Sunday at 5 p.m. in Brooklyn against the New York Islanders. Philadelphia currently occupies third place in the Metro Division but is just 1-6-1 since the beginning of March.
"You're in your division. It's going to be real good and competitive," Peters said. "We know what we're up against, and I expect all 12 games coming down the stretch to be hotly contested."
CANESPR NOTES: The Canes are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games against the Flyers in Raleigh. … Jeff Skinner has registered 22 points (13g, 9a) in 28 career games against Philadelphia.
