BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF NORTH CAROLINA TOOLS TO VICTORY

TV's Mike Maniscalco sets the table for tonight's game with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina three Tools to Victory.
1. TSA
The Teravainen-Staal-Aho line needs to be the best line on the ice. The Rangers have made a lot of changes looking to the future, and it doesn't appear on paper they have a line that matches up with the Canes' top trio. They need to control the play when their numbers are called.
2. Power Play Production
The Hurricanes have scored a power-play goal in each of their last two games. Getting an early marker on the man advantage will make a big difference.
3. Early Jump
A lot has been made about Madison Square Garden being a house of horrors for Carolina. The best way to script a happy ending is to grab a lead early in the first and build off it.

CANES HEAD TO BIG APPLE TO FACE RANGERS

Following a 3-2 win in Chicago on Thursday, the Carolina Hurricanes will look to extend those good vibes when they visit the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
Monday's game will conclude a set of three straight games on the road for the Hurricanes, who will then head back to Raleigh to host the Boston Bruins on Tuesday to close out their 15th back-to-back set of the season.
"We still believe we're getting in. We've got to go on that you've talked about. We haven't done it yet, but we've still got 14 games," head coach Bill Peters said after a Saturday practice in Raleigh. "We've got to go on a streak here. We played a real good game on Thursday and we should be well-rested going into New York."
Scott Darling made 22 saves in his return to Chicago, and his timely saves down the stretch of that contest helped the Hurricanes capture their first win in nearly a week. The Canes will turn back to the big man in net on Monday. Darling is 2-2-1 with a 2.20 goals-against average, a .925 save percentage and one shutout in five career appearances against the Rangers.
"He's coming off a good game, we're playing a back-to-back situation and I think he deserves another start," Peters said on Sunday. "We'll go right back to him."
In fact, Peters said he'll keep the entirety of his lineup in tact from Thursday, including Klas Dahlbeck on defense.
"I thought that lineup was good. I thought it was real competitive," he said. "I thought Dahly did a good job being physical and helped on the penalty kill. … He deserves to stay in."
The Rangers are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games and winless in their last four games at home (0-3-1). But, Madison Square Garden has not been kind to the Hurricanes, who have gone winless in 16 straight games in that building dating back to January 2011.
"It's been a bit of a house of horrors," Peters said. "We've got to go out, establish our game early, understand we've got to stay with it and have a real solid 60-minute effort."
CANESPR NOTES: The Hurricanes are 16-11-1 in back-to-back games this season, including a 10-4-0 mark in the front halves of those sets. … The Canes out-shot Chicago 40-24 on Thursday, marking the ninth time this season the team has recorded 40-or-more shots on goal, surpassing last season's total of six games.
