The Carolina Hurricanes continue their three-game road trip on Thursday at Boston (7 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). Carolina scored a 2-1 victory at Montreal on Tuesday, and will concluded its road swing at Minnesota on Saturday (8 p.m. ET, FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). CAROLINA NOTES

  • While the Hurricanes have won just two games in their last eight outings, the team has earned points in nine of its last 13 games, going 6-4-3 in that span, earning 15 of a possible 26 points.

  • Left wing Ray Whitney has earned points in 11 of Carolina’s last 13 games, scoring five goals and earning 11 assists (16 points) dating back to Jan. 6. Whitney picked up multiple assists in three of those games, earning two helpers on Jan. 6 against the NY Islanders and Jan. 9 at Toronto, and three assists on Jan. 26 against Washington.

  • Carolina defenseman Glen Wesley, who played his first seven NHL seasons with the Bruins, scored his last regular-season goal just more than a year ago, on Feb. 5, 2006, in Carolina’s 4-3 shootout win at Boston.

  • Three of the last seven games between the Hurricanes and the Bruins have gone to overtime, with Carolina posting a 2-1 record in those games.

AGAINST THE BRUINS
Thursday’s game marks the fourth and final meeting this season between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Boston Bruins. The Hurricanes took the clubs’ first meeting on Nov. 24 at TD Banknorth Garden by a 5-1 margin, and handed the Bruins a second defeat in the season series, 5-2 on Dec. 2 at the RBC Center. Boston scored a 4-3 overtime win in the team’s last meeting on Feb. 3 in Raleigh. In 2005-06, the Hurricanes posted a 3-1-0 record against the Bruins, splitting the games at TD Banknorth Garden with a 4-3 shootout victory on Feb. 5 and a 4-2 loss on March 18. Aaron Ward led all Carolina scorers in last year’s season series with two goals and five assists (7 points). Eric Staal added two goals and four assists (6 points) for Carolina. The Hurricanes post an all-time record of 61-83-17, with a 34-36-10 record at home and a 27-47-7 record in Boston.
