Regional Sports Channel Now Televising 64 of Carolina’s 82 Games

RALEIGH, NC – Michael Hurley, Director of Broadcast and Corporate Sales for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that FSN South, the team’s cable television partner, will carry nine additional regular-season games during the Hurricanes’ 2005-06 campaign. FSN South was originally slated to carry 55 of the team’s 82 games this season. As always, Hurricanes television play-by-play voice John Forslund, and analyst Tripp Tracy will call the action during the FSN South telecasts.

“The Hurricanes and FSN South wanted to provide an added value for our fans this season,” said Hurley. “We enjoy a very good relationship with FSN South, and having these nine games added is an indication of our strong partnership.”

Of the nine games added to FSN South’s schedule, five take place after the NHL’s Olympic Break in February, typically one of the most exciting times of the NHL season with teams vying for postseason berths and playoff positioning. One road game is among the nine added games, bringing the total number of road games being broadcast by FSN South this season to 39, the most since the Hurricanes relocated to North Carolina prior to the 1997-98 season. The first of the nine additional games to FSN South’s schedule will take place on Nov. 17, when the New York Rangers visit the RBC Center for the front end of a home-and-home set between the teams.
