Fifth Annual 24-Hour Bike Challenge Set for Aug. 7-8

RALEIGH, NC – For the fifth straight year the Carolina Hurricanes will participate in the Raleigh Orthopaedic 24-Hour Bike Challenge to benefit the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. The event will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, and will run through 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, at EXOS @ Raleigh Orthopaedic, 2400 Sumner Blvd. #120 in Raleigh.
The event includes teams of participants riding stationary bikes in shifts for a 24-hour period, with shifts ranging from 10 minutes to an hour or more. Hurricanes alumni and members of the team’s staff will be biking on the Cyclin’ Canes team, joining other local businesses and groups to raise money for the Foundation.
Through fundraisers like the Raleigh Orthopaedic 24-Hour Bike Challenge, the Kids ‘N Community Foundation donated $576,000 in cash grants to 29 different children’s charities and foundations in North Carolina during the 2014-15 season. In addition to the Foundation, the Hurricanes annually contribute to the community in numerous ways, bringing the team’s annual charitable giving to more than $1 million in cash and in-kind services. Every member of the Hurricanes organization is actively involved in community activities, and the Hurricanes take pride in giving back to the community.
