On Friday, Oct. 28 against Philadelphia, Staal scored his first career hat trick in Carolina’s 8-6 win against Philadelphia at the RBC Center. The following day, on his 21st birthday, he earned a career-high four assists against the Pittsburgh Penguins, helping Carolina rebound from a two-goal deficit for the fourth consecutive game to earn the victory – the first time in NHL history that a team has done so. The Thunder Bay, Ont. native completed the week as the NHL’s leading scorer with 22 points (9g, 13a) in 11 games.
