RALEIGH, NC— Jon Chase, Director of Promotions and Fan Development Marketing for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will host the first of its popular “Cool Bars” tour events tonight at the Carolina Ale House in Cary in conjunction with the team’s road game against the New York Islanders at 7 p.m. It is the first of 10 “Cool Bars” events this season, as the Hurricanes again partner with the Carolina Ale House to bring fans the ultimate experience for enjoying Hurricanes road games.
In addition to rotating among the Carolina Ale House’s six Triangle-area locations, the “Cool Bars” series will also travel to Wilmington, NC, for the first time this season. The 2009-2010 “Cool Bars” schedule is attached to this release.
At each “Cool Bars,” the Hurricanes will raffle off more than 30 items, with prizes including Hurricanes gear from the official team store The Eye, limited edition and unique autographed photos of Hurricanes players, game-used gear, team-signed jerseys and the opportunity for one fan to have his or her name read during the Fox Sports Carolinas broadcast. Proceeds from the raffles go directly to the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation. Each “Cool Bars” stop will also feature games and contests for fans of all ages, and appearances from Hurricanes mascot Stormy, the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad and team personality Ron the Ref.
During the 2009-10 season, the Carolina Hurricanes and Carolina Ale House are teaming up to help local children with the Points for Kids program. For every point the Hurricanes earn in the standings, Carolina Ale House will donate $100 to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. During the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, Carolina Ale House contributed over $26,000 in donations to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation through the Points for Kids and Heart of the Hurricanes programs. The Points for Kids program will host events throughout the year at Carolina Ale House with the Hurricanes and Stormy.
The Carolina Ale House has received multiple accolades by local publications and media for their food, staff and game-watching atmosphere. The Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides much needed funding to children’s charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. The Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational and literacy efforts, children’s health programs, the arts and other children’s related initiatives.
