Before camp even opens, Ray Whitney is starting the year with an assist.
Ray is the grand prize offering in a raffle benefiting Raleigh's Theatre in the Park. Theater in the Park is only selling 350 raffle tickets with five grand prize winners. The grand prize, dinner for two with Ray Whitney at Coquette Brasserie on September 8 is an awesome grand prize. However, the other two prizes aren’t too shabby.
The “1st Prize” is an autographed Whitney jersey and official hockey stick. 2nd Prize is four premium tickets to “A Christmas Carol”. So that is a total of seven winners on only 350 entries…not bad odds for a Canes fan.
Raffle tickets are $50 each and will be sold through Friday, September 4. The drawing will take place Saturday, September 5 and grand prize winners will only have three days to pick out their outfits as the dinner is Tuesday, September 8.
Raffle Tickets can be purchased online or from Theatre in the Park staff, volunteers and cast members.
All of the proceeds from this raffle will benefit the Park’s Annual Fund for Community Arts and Education. One key need for this year is travel funds as Raleigh’s Theatre in the Park has been invited to Compiegne, France, in late November to perform “A Christmas Carol.". This is truly a unique opportunity for all of those involved with this amazing trip. However, not everyone can afford the trip and this fundraiser will help bridge that gap.
Many may already know, but Ray has a special tie to Theatre in the Park through his wife Brijet. Brijet volunteers her time each year with several of the Park’s productions. I don’t claim to know a ton about theatre production, but I do know that Brijet is very detail oriented and a well-respected set designer and choreographer.
I am not sure if the dinner includes Brijet or not, but if you get the option, make sure you ask for Brijet to be there. Ray’s quick wit and great sense of sarcasm makes him one of the funniest guys on our team. However, I am not sure he is the funniest guy in his house.
