Community: USO B.O.G.O. Drive Tonight

by Doug Warf / Carolina Hurricanes
Our inaugural drive to benefit the USO of North Carolina will come to completion tonight. Many fans have already donated items that will be distributed to the USO of North Carolina’s four sites, but you have one more chance to do so tonight.

Obviously, if you do not have tickets yet for tonight’s game, which also features the Chad LaRose bobblehead, this drive is a great way to get into tonight’s game at a fraction of the normal gate price cost.

The significant others of five of our Canes players will be in the TimeWarner Cable Box Office collecting donations. Stop by and say hello to Cody Ward, Angela Corvo, Lisa Kostopoulos, Susan Yelle and Candice (Gleason).

If you are a season ticket holder who typically enters through the east or west entrances, we will have boxes set-up at each entrance for collection. These will simply be drop-off points to help alleviate the need to travel to the box office.

To find out more about what to bring, check this page on our site: http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=59562

The items donated during this drive will be used by the USO of North Carolina for their “Rack Packs” at their four major sites. The USO has locations at FortBragg, Camp Lejune as well as Raleigh Durham International Airport and Charlotte’s Douglas International Airport. Many service men and women fly commercially through the four locations and “Rack Packs” are what they receive from the USO to help make their travel a little easier to manage.

If you are worried about the “travel size” issue, we can accept “normal size” items as well. Any non-travel size items we receive will be donated to a program run by our Military Appreciation Night Sponsor Volvo Rents ASC Construction Equipment. Volvo/ASC has a program that sends items directly overseas to troops and they can handle “normal size” items.

Thanks again to everyone who has already made this a successful drive for the USO of North Carolina.
