Summer is a time for our Community Relations department to plan and evaluate our fundraisers and programs, but it also gives us more time to get out in the community. Check out what we have going on!

Summer Fun Fest
The Summer Fun Fest is coming up on July 20! It is a free event at PNC Arena for fans of all ages. Click here for details about the event.
Below are a few Community Relations portions of the event.
School Supply Charity Drive
We will be hosting a school supply drive in conjunction with our Summer Fun Fest to benefit the Wake County Boys & Girls Clubs. The drive will run from July 16 through the end of Summer Fun Fest on July 20. Collection bins will be at the VIP entrance throughout the week from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. During the Fun Fest, please bring your supplies to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation kiosk inside the East Priority Lounge.
The majority of the children served at the local clubs do not have adequate funds to start school with the supplies they need. Items can include:
- Notebook paper
- Spiral notebook
If you bring an item off this list, you will be entered to win a 2011-2012 team-signed replica jersey!
Canes Mystery Magnet Pick-Up
For a $20 donation, you can randomly choose a magnet off of the table. On the back of each magnet is a prize of an autographed puck, player photo or a replica stick. Former and current Canes players represented in the Canes Mystery Magnet Pick-Up include Tomas Kaberle, Justin Williams, Jeff Skinner, Eric Staal, Cam Ward and Alexei Ponikarovsky. Come early, as there are a limited number of magnets available. Magnets will go on sale at 5:30 p.m.
The Athletic Performance Center is hosting their second annual 24-hour bike challenge benefiting the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. It will be held August 24-25. Please consider creating a team to bike for the kids!

Registration is now open, so join us for an opportunity of a lifetime! For more information contact Kristina Boyce at (919) 861-5494 or email@example.com.
Kids ‘N Community Foundation Grant Visits
This summer, we have set up visits to all 53 of our grant recipients to see our funding in action. We are highlighting four of our 2011-2012 grant recipients this summer.
During the 2011-2012 season, the Kids ‘N Community Foundation donated $534,852 to 53 non-profit children’s organizations. The visits are eye-opening and allow us to observe the programs that we fund.
Every visit ignites more passion in our staff to challenge ourselves to increase our fundraising efforts each year. There is a huge need to help the under-served children in our community, but with the support of our fans and community, we are able to provide grants to so many wonderful organizations.
“Kick It” Campaign
Kick It is a program to raise money for children’s cancer research. Kick It has partnered with Jeff Gordon’s Children’s Foundation to create a movement to kick cancer out of every childhood!
President and General Manager Jim Rutherford, Vice President of Hockey Operations Ron Francis and Director of Defensemen Development Glen Wesley participated in the campaign. Check out their photos here in the celebrity photo gallery.
We are blessed to be immersed in a community that strives to reach those that need help. Thank you to all of our fans and grant recipients who work each day to give back. We are excited about the rest of our summer and look forward to a great 2012-2013 season!
