Even though the team is on a west coast road trip, things in our department sure aren’t slowing down anytime soon. In fact, the fundraising for the Kids ‘N Community Foundation is pretty swamped (which is a good thing in this situation…especially when our Spring grant cycle is just around the corner!).
There are numerous ways that you can be involved with our fundraising efforts this winter and spring. Here is a description of our upcoming fundraisers, and I hope you find a way to get involved… Valentine’s Day Mystery Cane T-Shirt Fundraiser (February 14)
See what fate has in store for you by purchasing a Heart of the Hurricanes T-Shirt at the Kids ‘N Community Foundation Silent Auction Kiosk (section 129) during the game on February 14th.
Last year’s shirts sold out in 12 minutes, so we have more shirts this year to give more people the opportunity to get a shirt. This is the ONLY place you can purchase these one-of-a-kind t-shirts. Shirts will begin selling when the doors open at 6:00pm. Similar to last year, shirts are $40 (limit 4 per person), and each shirt is packaged in a very cute Valentine’s Day Gift Bag (guys, hint hint!) with a certificate of authenticity and a ($30) tax receipt. One of the gift bags will have a certificate to redeem a 2008-2009 Team Signed Carolina Hurricanes Replica Stick. But, girls, don’t get disgruntled if you are single…this isn’t just for guys to buy for their valentine. This is a great shirt for you to treat yourself to as well!
Caroline Ale House Paper/Magnetic Hearts Campaign (February 1-15)
This past Monday, all six Carolina Ale Houses kicked off the Kids ‘N Community Foundation Paper/Magnetic Hearts Campaign. The magnets are different this year, so if you got one last year, there’s no excuse not to get another one. Just like last year, paper hearts are $1 and magnets are $3. All proceeds generated from this fundraiser will go directly to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation.
Athens Drive High School Dance-A-Thon (March 6th-7th)
Athens Drive High School selected the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation to be the beneficiary of their Annual Dance-A-Thon Fundraiser. They approached us about this partnership, and we are so excited to see what we can accomplish together.
Even though I am a graduate of Broughton High School, I put all my differences aside and decided this partnership could work out (only kidding… this is going to be amazing!). Students and teachers are responsible for forming teams and raising money for our Foundation. They will dance for 12 hours through the night. We have provided some incentive prizes for the top 3 individual fundraisers as well.
Casino Night (March 15th)
Our Annual Charity Casino Night and Wine Tasting is fast approaching. It’s only about 5 weeks away. Plans for the night are coming together nicely. Tickets have already been selling, and we are in the process of solidifying our silent and live auction items. Don’t miss your opportunity to mingle with your favorite Hurricanes players and coaches at this fantastic fundraiser. You individual ticket purchase ($200) allows you access to the silent and live auction items, food, full bar, wine vendors and the opportunity to have an elegant night with players and coaches all for a great cause (you receive a $115 tax deduction for your ticket purchase).
In-Game and NHL Online Auctions (On-Going)
As with every game, our in-game silent auction will be running at every home game for the rest of the season. We’ve got some unique framed pieces and jerseys in the works, so be sure to keep an eye out for more information. Our online auction is in full-force as well. Right now we’ve got the Reagan Smith Autographed NASCAR Carolina Hurricanes Themed Helmet; and in two weeks, we will have very special online auction items that commemorate Glen Wesley.
