In the two days of the 48 hour Beard-a-thon push, Canes fans helped raise over $6,174.50 for the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. That is an awesome total.
The goal of $55,000, a $10,000 increase from where we started, was definitely a lofty goal. I thank the over 140 different people who donated to beard pages during that 48 hour window. Grand Prize Winner
The beard grower who raised the most funds during the 48 hour time frame was Chad Mastny. Chad’s beard received six donations totaling $1,670 during this time frame.
To put that donation in perspective, through the Assistance League’s “Operation School Bell”, $1,670 would provide new clothes, school supplies and toiletries to 33 different Triangle elementary school children in need. Amazing work Chad…the children in our community truly thank you. Four Random Prizes
We are currently working to compile all of the other entries together in order to randomly select four names. We hope to have this complete soon, and will promptly announce the winners.Player Beards See a Big Jump
Just in the final 24 hours of the two-day period, the player beards saw a $621 increase. This week, there was a great deal of movement in the player top 10. Three players, Scott Walker, Niclas Wallin and Matt Cullen all saw their totals increase more than $100 from the start of the week.
The new player poll looks like this:
1 Scott Walker $539.00
2 Tuomo Ruutu
3 Niclas Wallin $511.00
4 Chad Larose
5 Cam Ward
6 Dennis Seidenberg $304.00
7 Tim Gleason
8 Matt Cullen $282.00
9 Eric Staal
10 Joe Corvo $182.00
Scott Walker is obviously the new leader, overtaking a long run in first place for Tuomo Ruutu
. Ruutu has been the leader since April 27th, when Niclas Wallin held the title. Round 3 Koozies
The new drink koozies for round three have arrived and they are awesome. One side depicts Scott Walker as he shakes his gloves in excitement after scoring the overtime winning goal (photo includes Staal and Seidenberg), while the other photo showcases a great moment in the handshake line between Tim Thomas and Cam Ward
The bottom of the can koozie features the Foundation’s heart logo with the final score of game 7. This is a great keepsake from another phenomenal 2009 playoff run.
Koozies are still $3 and can be picked up at the Kids ‘N Community Foundation auction booth located on the concourse outside of section 129. We will again have a representative in the parking lot with the Storm Squad prior to all home games (the weather looks great for this weekend…I am jealous of everyone who will enjoy their koozies in the parking lot).
Round 1 koozies are SOLD OUT, however, we do have a few round 2 koozies remaining (features photos from the tying and winning goals of Game 7 of round 1).
