Player Beard Update

From the day after game 2 until today, the Canes players have raised $227.36 to bring their playoff total to $2,933.57…oh so close to breaking $3,000.

Matt Cullen saw a jump of five spots that took him from 13th to 8th. Aside from Cullen the top 10 is close to the same, but spots two, three and four are currently very closely contested. Here’s a look at the top ten:

Player
Amount Raised
1
$456.50
2
Scott Walker
$334.50
3
$329.07
4
Niclas Wallin
$324.00
5

Dennis Seidenberg

$216.00
6
$203.50
7
$171.00
8
Matt Cullen
$143.00
9
Joe Corvo
$123.00
10
Ray Whitney
$109.50

If we were keeping with the look of the AP poll, “others receiving votes” would be Eric Staal ($101.50) and Jussi Jokinen ($86).

Jussi Jokinen and Sergei Samsanov did see their beard “puck ratings” increase as both jumped from one puck to two pucks. I am sure this has nothing to do with the OT winner…but I agree that their beard status has improved.

Blogger Beard-Off
The four bloggers are doing well ourselves. The four of us have raised a total of $1,651.30. That total would be a lot better if Paul Branecky would actually raise a little money. I kid…Paul has been keeping the web updated with fresh content every day and that should definitely be his focus during this exciting playoff push.

Even with deadweight Paul, we are still slightly outpacing the top four players by about 200 bucks. (let’s see if Paul actually allows these personal shots to be posted)

Koozies - Round Two
Many folks took advantage of the new koozies at Wednesday night’s game (2nd in a current series of 2). If sales continue, we might sell-out in the next few days.

This round of koozies features two different photos. The photos are the goal celebrations after goals three and four of game 7 against the Devils. One side captures a great celebration of the Captain and Mr. Clutch (Brind’Amour and Jokinen), while the other side features Staal celebrating with Pitkanen. Pick yours up from the Storm Squad in the parking lot or at our Kids ‘N Community Foundation booth outside section 129.

The minimum donation for each is $3 and ALL proceeds will go to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation.

Smoke in the Locker Room
I heard that someone tweeted that Tony “Smoke” Stewart was in the locker room. Stewart, and three members of his crew, were invited to the locker room for a few reasons, but mainly because Cam Ward is a big fan of Tony Stewart.

I have helped with a lot of post-game “meet and greets”, but this one was a little different. There was definitely a mutual respect between Tony Stewart and Cam Ward (and all of the other Canes who were excited to meet Tony).

On a side note, I always find it funny when the national media considers Raleigh “NASCAR Country”. I am a native of the Carolinas, and I did not have the racing knowledge that many of the Canes players in our locker room possessed…guys who are all from very diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
