Many of you are aware that we are entering into Fan Appreciation Week as the regular season begins to wind down. This Saturday you can enjoy a front lawn party that includes live music, inflatables, street hockey, food and beverage, and the slap shot booth. The first 15,000 fans who enter the RBC Center on Saturday will also receive a Carolina Hurricanes team poster.
The “appreciation” does not stop there. After the game, some lucky fans and partners will have the opportunity to participate in the Jersey off the Backs promotion or have a chance at winning a Chevy Equinox during the game on Thursday, April 8.
However, we aren’t just thankful for your support of the Carolina Hurricanes, but also we are grateful to those who have supported the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation this year and in years past.
The Foundation’s goal is to help non-profit organizations meet the educational, health, and underserved population needs of children and their families in our community. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation has donated over $8.5 million in cash and in-kind services to local charities during the past decade. But, the Kids ‘N Community Foundation does not serve its purpose without the involvement of our fans and community partners.
Here’s a recap of the events and fundraisers this year that have supported the Kids ‘N Community Foundation: NHL Online Auctions, In-Game Silent Auctions, We Love the Hurricanes Luncheon, Annual Golf Tournament, Skate with the Canes, Casino Night & Wine Tasting, Holiday grab bags, Valentine’s Day Mystery Cane T-shirt fundraiser, St. Patrick’s Day Mystery Puck fundraiser, Cool Bars raffles, Carolina Ale House paper hearts and magnet campaign, and the Olympic Medal picture donations.
If you were involved in any way with these events, (patron, volunteer, participant, sponsor, etc.) or if you made an in-kind donation, you can be assured that children in our community have already benefited, or will soon benefit, from your generosity.
There is still time to show or continue your support of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation before the regular season ends. Our in-game auctions (Section 129/130) will feature some unique items. For the first time ever, we’ll auction off a “Jersey off the Back” from Zach Boychuk. The winner will join the rest of the lucky winners on the ice after the game and accept from Boychuk’s Carolina Hurricanes game-worn alternate (black) jersey. Other unique items include an autographed Eric Staal game-worn Carolina Hurricanes jersey, an autographed Cam Ward game-used goalie stick, photos and much more.
We will also debut our “I heart hockey” magnets that were featured during the Carolina Ale House’s paper & magnet hearts campaign. Magnets will be for sale at the silent auction kiosk for $3, and all proceeds benefit the Kids ‘N Community Foundation.
The weather is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous on Saturday, so we hope to see you all out on the front lawn for the Fan Appreciation Week kick-off festivities. If you get a chance during the game, stop by the Kids ‘N Community Foundation kiosk so we can get a chance to properly say “thank you” for all of your support this year.
