RALEIGH, NC—Doug Warf, Director of Community Relations and Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation for the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that “Center Ice” will open this Saturday, July 12, at Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh. Hurricanes captain Rod Brind’Amour will be on-hand from 11 a.m. until noon for the grand opening of “Center Ice” and to sign autographs in the “Kids Autograph Zone.”

“Center Ice” is a simulated hockey experience with a synthetic ice rink and a mock version of the Hurricanes’ locker room, and was the cornerstone of a grant given to Marbles Kids Museum by the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. Along with Kids Decathlon and Spirit of the Games, “Center Ice” is a part of Marble Olympics which will give kids an active summer sensation based on the Olympic Games. “Center Ice” will remain at Marbles Kids Museum throughout the 2008-09 hockey season.

Marbles Olympics’ all-day kickoff will feature a visit from Hurricanes mascot Stormy from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and appearances by members of the Storm Squad from 10 a.m. until noon. Raffles will take place every hour for various prizes, including autographed Hurricanes posters, Hurricanes family four-packs of tickets and autographed pucks.

Marbles Kids Museum provides unique hands-on interactive experiences that inspire children to be creative thinkers, active learners and confident individuals. The museum, located at 201 East Hargett St. in Raleigh, offers five themed galleries, programs, camps and events that inspire imagination, discovery and learning through extraordinary adventures in play and larger-than-life IMAX® experiences.
