Staff to volunteer time to Habitat for Humanity project in Wake County

RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 6, 2004) – The Carolina Hurricanes today announced that staff members will volunteer their time on Dec. 10, to Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. The Hurricanes staff will assist with the project known as “deconstruction.

Deconstruction is a program of Habitat's ReUse Center, where useable materials are "stripped out" from a house slated for demolition. The materials are then taken to Habitat’s ReUse Center where they are processed and sold to the general public at 25-70 percent below retail. All proceeds from the sales of these materials benefit Habitat for Humanity of Wake County.

“We are thrilled to volunteer for such a worthwhile service, said Emma Bennett, Manager of Community Relations for the Hurricanes. “This opportunity allows us to truly give back to the community which has so graciously supported our organization.
