Raleigh, NC - Ken Lehner, Senior Director of Marketing Communications, today invited the public to view the Entertainment and Sports Arena (ESA) on Wednesday, October 27th at 7:00 p.m. as part of a dress rehearsal to prepare for the October 29, 1999 sell-out when the Hurricanes host the New Jersey Devils. Scout Night will allow the public to scout out the new arena, their seat locations, and Hurricanes' Opening Night opponent, the New Jersey Devils. The game between the St. Louis Blues and the New Jersey Devils will be shown on the Jumbotron beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission to Scout Night is free.
"Externally, we are elated to welcome our fans to preview their ESA prior to Opening Night," stated Lehner, "Internally, this is an excellent opportunity for on the job training for our employees."
An additional feature of Scout Night revolves around the Hurricanes continued commitment to aid the victims of Hurricane Floyd. All net concession proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross Hurricane Floyd Relief Fund. This donation will come on top of the $25,000 commitment that has been made by the organization, the players and the National Hockey League.
"We want to continue to make a difference and help resurrect the Eastern North Carolina area devastated by Hurricane Floyd," said Mark Stone Senior Director of Food and Beverage Services for the Hurricanes. "We cannot forecast how much this donation might be, but we do know one thing and that is the more fans that show up the greater it will be."
Also, WRDU 106.1 FM will be organizing the First Flush in the ESA. At 7:15 p.m., 368 lucky listeners of WRDU 106.1 FM will flush all the toilets in the ESA simultaneously. Finally, Big Flash, the new morning on-air personality of the Bob and Madison Showgram on G105, will be warming up the arena for Scout Night by sitting in every seat in the ESA commencing at 6:00 a.m.
