CAROLINA HURRICANES AGREE TO TERMS WITH LEFT WING CHRIS DINGMAN

RALEIGH, NC (July 11, 2001) – The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with left wing Chris Dingman for a one-year contract. The Hurricanes acquired Dingman from the Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche in exchange for their fifth-round pick (149th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft on June 24.

Dingman (6’4’’, 225 lbs.) scored two points (1g, 1a) in 41 regular season games with the Avalanche last season and four points (0g, 4a) in 16 playoff games. He was originally drafted in the first round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by Calgary. A native of Edmonton, Dingman, 24, has totaled 19 points (12g, 7a) and 413 penalty minutes in 182 career NHL games.
