CAROLINA HURRICANES ADD SUNDHEIM AS MEDIA RELATIONS ASSISTANT

RALEIGH, NC (July 20, 2000) – Jason Karmanos, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the National Hockey League Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has hired Mike Sundheim as the team’s Media Relations Assistant. Sundheim spent the last two seasons as an intern in the team’s media relations department.

Sundheim graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in May 2000. In addition to his internship with the Hurricanes, he gained experience as an Assistant SportSaturday Editor for the Daily Tar Heel, UNC’s student newspaper, as well as a student assistant in UNC’s Sports Information Department.

Media Relations Assistant is a new position now being added to the organization. As the Media Relations Assistant, Sundheim will be responsible for the compilation of the team’s media notes as well as providing written material for all team publications and communications. He will also assist Vice President of Communications/Public Relations Chris Brown and Media Relations Director Jerry Peters in all the day-to-day activities of the public relations department.
