RALEIGH, NC—Ben Aycock, Director of Marketing and Brand Development for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the details of the festivities surrounding the Carolina Hurricanes’ annual New Year’s Eve game and party. The Hurricanes will host the Atlanta Thrashers at the RBC Center on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 8 p.m., and tickets are still available.
Following the game, all fans in attendance are invited to stay in the arena to celebrate the arrival of 2009 at the RBC Center’s Arena Club Restaurant. The post-game celebration will start at 10:30 p.m. Party favors will be provided, and the band Party Nuts will be performing classic rock, R&B and pop favorites. The New Year’s Eve game sponsor, Yellow Tail Sparkling, will provide a complementary champagne toast at midnight, and fans will be able to count down the seconds and mark the end of 2008 with the traditional drop of a massive Hurricanes puck from the JumboTron. To cap off the night, fans will be treated to a fireworks display at 12:30 a.m. on the south side of the RBC Center that will be visible from the restaurant, which will remain open until 1 a.m.
