RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will hold a drive to benefit the USO of North Carolina.
Fans donating at least one item will receive a buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) ticket voucher for the March 9 game against the Atlanta Thrashers. Donations for the USO of North Carolina can be placed in one of the bins located at the VIP Entrance of the RBC Center from March 3 until game time on March 9. Members of the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad will be on hand prior to the game against Atlanta to help collect donations. A list of needed items can be found at www.carolinahurricanes.com/uso.
During the drive, the Hurricanes will hold a ‘Canes Community Day on March 7, during which a Hurricanes player will volunteer for the USO of North Carolina at Raleigh-Durham International Airport from 2-3 p.m. The player will help put together care packages for approximately 100 Marines traveling through RDU on March 8, and will also meet and greet Marines from a unit stationed at Camp Lejeune. The unit recently returned from a year-long tour of duty in Afghanistan and suffered multiple casualties.
The USO of North Carolina works continuously to enrich the lives of America’s military in the Carolinas, as well as fund vital programs and services for soldiers and their families.
