RALEIGH, NC – Dan McGowan, Senior Director of Operations and Facilities for PNC Arena, today announced that the Hurricanes and PNC Arena will partner with Bayer CropScience for the first annual “Go Green Night” on March 29 when the Hurricanes face the Columbus Blue Jackets.

“We’re pleased to have Bayer CropScience partner with the Hurricanes for ‘Go Green Night,’” said McGowan. “PNC Arena is committed to sustainability and environmentally intelligent operations in order to provide world class entertainment while minimizing the impact on our natural environment.”

The Hurricanes and PNC Arena will be accepting recyclable sports equipment, computers, cell phones and batteries at the VIP entrance from Monday, March 24 until Friday, March 28. Fans who donate recyclable items will receive a 20-percent discount voucher to The Eye, and will be registered to win a team-signed Hurricanes green jersey.

“We are proud to be a part of ‘Go Green Night,’ as both Bayer CropScience and the Carolina Hurricanes are committed to creating a healthy environment through the way we live, work and play,” said Jim Blome, President and CEO Bayer CropScience LP. “The Hurricanes’ efforts to create a more environmentally sustainable community align perfectly with Bayer’s innovative research and development efforts to promote Science: For A Better Life.”

Hurricanes players will wear green jerseys during pregame warm-ups prior to their game against Columbus. The jerseys will be auctioned online throughout the summer with proceeds benefiting the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, Passage Home and SEEDS. Visit for the auction schedule.

Prior to the game, fans can catch Stormy riding through the PNC Arena parking lots, picking up recyclable items from tailgating fans. Fans will also be encouraged to ride their bikes to the game, and to use the stairs instead of the elevators inside PNC Arena.

“Bayer CropScience is dedicated to developing sustainable agriculture solutions to feed your family and families around the world,” said Blome. “Through our partnership with the Hurricanes, we hope to raise awareness of the need for increased environmental responsibility. We encourage everyone to join Bayer CropScience and the Carolina Hurricanes in finding ways to ‘go green’ and create a brighter future for us all.”
