Eleven Hurricanes alumni are scheduled to participate in the 2014 Alumni Fantasy Game. Ron Francis will captain the red team, which also includes Bret Hedican, Glen Wesley, Robert Kron, Steve Rice and Tripp Tracy. Rod Brind’Amour captains the white team, featuring Bates Battaglia, Jesse Boulerice, Aaron Ward and Shane Willis. The alumni are joined by individuals who made donations to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation to be a part of the game.
Hurricanes Play-by-Play Announcer John Forslund will call the game on the video board, and Stormy, the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad and host Amber Jaye will also be a part of the game experience. The Hurricanes’ coaching staff will work the benches for the game, which will be no-hitting, with three running-clock periods and 15-minute intermissions. The off-ice activities will be similar to a Carolina Hurricanes home game with a true, game-day experience from CanesVision and the promotions team. There will be normal intermissions and two TV timeouts per period, all filled with promotions, contests and interviews with Hurricanes alumni. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation will be offering a silent auction during the game, which will include the Alumni-Game-worn jerseys of Ron Francis and Rod Brind’Amour as well as other rare Hurricanes memorabilia. The winners of the Francis and Brind’Amour sweaters will receive them in a special post-game meet-and-greet.
