Canes to Deliver 800 Turkeys for Area Families

by Terrell Williams / Carolina Hurricanes

RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the organization will donate 800 Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need on Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 12-3 p.m. The donation will be facilitated by Helping Hand Mission, an organization that assists families on a one-on-one basis with food, clothing, furniture and shelter. Media are invited to cover the turkey donation at Helping Hand Mission, 623 Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh.

This marks the fifth year of the Hurricanes’ Thanksgiving partnership with Helping Hand Mission, and by far its largest turkey donation. Contributions for the turkeys came from the team, its players and the Hurricanes’ Tickets for Turkeys campaign, through which a portion of every ticket sold went toward the purchase of turkeys. Hurricanes players Kris Versteeg, Brad Malone, Chris Terry and Riley Nash each made significant contributions to the cause.
