Contest yielded more than 38,000 unique participants and 400,000 game plays
RALEIGH, NC—Curt Johnson, Director of Marketing for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the end of the online portion of the ‘Canes 10th Anniversary Season Home and Prize Giveaway presented by St. Lawrence Homes.
After almost six months of game plays, parties at the house, home tours, player appearances and prizes, the contest has yielded 38,439 unique users and 405,291 total game plays. The participants hailed from 643 different towns and cities, including 429 locations in North Carolina, 72 locations in South Carolina and 142 locations in Virginia.
Two-hundred finalists have been notified for the grand prize home giveaway. As of today, 170 of the finalists have returned their affidavits and are eligible to win the house. In addition, 146 other prizes have been awarded, including EA Sports’ NHL ’08 video games, signed Hurricanes pictures or posters, autographed sticks and jerseys, television and radio booth experiences and Kids ‘N Community Casino Night tickets.
The contest culminates with a catered tent party for finalists and their guests before the Hurricanes’ final regular-season game on April 4. Ten participants will be picked randomly to advance to the on-ice portion of the contest during the second intermission when one lucky winner will be selected for the grand prize of a new home valued at more than $340,000.
