RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Patrick Dwyer from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. Dwyer is being recalled on an emergency basis after Hurricanes center Matt Cullen sustained a leg injury in Carolina’s game on Saturday against Edmonton.
Dwyer, 25, has scored three goals and earned one assist (4 points) eight games for the River Rats thus far this season. The Spokane, WA, native is in his third season with the Hurricanes organization, and his fourth professional season after completing a four-year career at Western Michigan University. Dwyer (5’11”, 175 lbs.) has scored 48 goals, earned 67 assists (115 points) in 219 career AHL regular-season games with Albany and Chicago. He has yet to make his NHL debut.
