RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Joey Keane from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Keane, 21, has tallied 12 assists in 21 AHL games with the Wolves in 2020-21. The 6'0", 187-pound defenseman skated in 58 AHL games with Charlotte and Hartford in 2019-20, earning 37 points (9g, 28a). Prior to turning professional, Keane recorded 102 points (21g, 81a) in 195 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with Barrie and London from 2016-19. He was a teammate of Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov with Barrie in 2017-18. The Chicago, Ill., native also spent the 2015-16 season with Dubuque of the United States Hockey League (USHL), registering 11 points (2g, 9a) in 55 games. Drafted by the New York Rangers in the third round, 88th overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft, he was acquired from the Rangers in exchange for Julien Gauthier on Feb. 18, 2020.
