RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forwards Morgan Geekie, Steven Lorentz and Max McCormick and defenseman Jake Bean from the team's taxi squad. Carolina has also recalled forward Sheldon Rempal to the team's active roster from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL). Additionally, the team has recalled forward Drew Shore and defenseman Joey Keane to the team's taxi squad from Chicago (AHL).

Geekie, 22, has registered four points (3g, 1a) in four career NHL games with Carolina. He has recorded 88 points (41g, 47a) in 128 career AHL games, all with Charlotte. The 6'2", 192-pound forward posted 202 points (78g, 124a) in 216 Western Hockey League (WHL) games with Tri-City from 2014-18. The Strathclair, Man., native was drafted by the Hurricanes in the third round, 67th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft.
Lorentz, 24, has recorded 55 points (26g, 29a) in 93 career AHL games, all with Charlotte. The 6'4", 207-pound forward tallied five points (1g, 4a) in 12 playoff games with the Checkers in 2019 as the team won its first Calder Cup. Lorentz also posted 63 points (22g, 41a) in 84 career ECHL games with Florida from 2017-19. The Kitchener, Ont., native was drafted by the Hurricanes in the seventh round, 186th overall, of the 2015 NHL Draft.
McCormick, 28, has registered 10 points (4g, 6a) in 71 career NHL games with Ottawa from 2015-18. The 6'0", 183-pound forward skated in 56 AHL games for Charlotte last season, posting 35 points (16g, 19a) and a team-high 120 penalty minutes. McCormick also played 363 AHL games with Binghamton, Belleville and Colorado, with 133 points (63g, 70a). The De Pere, Wis., native was signed by Carolina as a free agent on July 25, 2019.
Bean, 22, has played in two career NHL games with Carolina, both during the 2018-19 season. The 6'1", 189-pound defenseman has tallied 92 points (23g, 69a) in 129 career AHL games, all with Charlotte. He won the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL's defenseman of the year in 2019-20. Bean recorded 196 points (49g, 147a) in 219 career WHL games with Calgary and Tri-City from 2014-18. The Calgary, Alta., native was drafted by the Hurricanes in the first round, 13th overall, of the 2016 NHL Draft.
Rempal, 25, has played seven career NHL games with Los Angeles, all in 2018-19. The 5'10", 165-pound forward registered 61 points (19g, 42a) in 115 career AHL games with Ontario from 2018-20. The Calgary, Alta., native was signed by Carolina as a free agent on Oct. 16, 2020.
Shore, 29, has tallied 26 points (9g, 17a) in 94 career NHL games with Vancouver, Calgary and Florida. The 6'2", 209-pound forward posted 38 points (10g, 28a) in 61 Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) games with Kunlun, Minsk and Nizhny Novgorod from 2018-20. He also skated in 90 games with Kloten HC and Zurich SC of Switzerland's National League from 2016-18, with 73 points (29g, 44a). The Denver, Colo., native was signed by Carolina as a free agent on Oct. 21, 2020.
Keane, 21, recorded 37 points (9g, 28a) in 58 AHL games with Hartford and Charlotte last season, and was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team and the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic. The 6'0", 187-pound defenseman played 195 career OHL games with Barrie and London, tallying 102 points (21g, 81a). The Chicago, Ill., native was acquired from the New York Rangers in exchange for Julien Gauthier on Feb. 18, 2020.
