Canes Reassign Jiri Tlusty to Albany

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutheford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Jiri Tlusty (YIH-ree T’LOO-stee) to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

This ends the fourth NHL recall this season for Tlusty. The 21-year-old has totaled one goal and five assists (6 points) in 20 NHL games this season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Hurricanes. Acquired by the Hurricanes from the Maple Leafs on Dec. 3, the Slany, Czech Republic, native has eight goals and seven assists (15 points) in 23 AHL games this season with Albany and the Toronto Marlies. The Maple Leafs’ first round selection, 13th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Tlusty (6’0”, 209 lbs.) has totaled 11 goals and 15 assists (26 points) in 92 career NHL games with Toronto and Carolina.
