RALEIGH, NC—Doug Warf, Director of Community Relations and Executive Director of the Carolina Hurricanes’ Kids ‘N Community Foundation, today announced that the Kids ‘N Community Foundation and Rex Healthcare will host a ribbon-cutting event for the brand-new Carolina Hurricanes Pediatric Playroom on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Rex Hospital.
The Kids ‘N Community Foundation provided a grant to the Rex Healthcare Foundation to support Hurricanes-themed programming and features inside the new playroom for the pediatric floor. Hurricanes players and staff, along with Stormy, will be at Rex Hospital to officially open the newly completed playroom.
All media are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony beginning at 1 p.m. Media are to meet in the Patient Tower Entrance Lobby of Rex Hospital, and will be escorted up to the pediatric floor. Rex Hospital is located at 4420 Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh.
The Rex Healthcare Foundation, founded in 1958, raises funds to support and enhance the programs and services of Rex Healthcare. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides much needed funding to children’s charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. Last year, the Foundation set a record by donating $578,000 to 37 different children’s organizations. The Carolina Hurricanes and the Kids ‘N Community Foundation donated more than $7.5 million in cash and in-kind contributions in the past 10 years. Every member of the Hurricanes organization is actively involved in community activities.
