RALEIGH, N.C. (July 18, 2005)

Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the Hurricanes have named Chief Financial Officer Mike Amendola as an Alternate Governor. Amendola joined the Hurricanes franchise as a senior accountant for the Hartford Whalers on Aug. 18, 1981, and is the team’s third longest-tenured employee.

“Mike is an instrumental member of our management team,” said Rutherford. “His longevity in the sport and with the Hurricanes franchise will continue to be assets going forward under a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.”

As Chief Financial Officer, Amendola oversees all fiscal aspects of the Hurricanes and the RBC Center, as well as the finances of Gale Force Sports & Entertainment’s other entities – the ECHL’s Florida Everblades, the Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers, Germain Arena in Estero, Fla., and Compuware Arena in Plymouth, Mich. Prior to being named Chief Financial Officer, Amendola held the titles of Senior Accountant, Controller, Treasurer and Vice President of Finance and Administration with the Hurricanes franchise.

Amendola received an undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from Lehigh University in 1976 and an advanced degree in Accounting from the University of Miami in 1979. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of CPAs and the Connecticut Society of CPAs.
