RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 16, 2004)
– Tuesday's broadcast of the "Canes Classic" game against the New Jersey Devils marked the debut of a light-hearted campaign. "Stay Sharp," is designed to look at how fans might stay engaged with hockey while waiting for the greatest game to return. Along with the 30-second spot to air during Canes Classics broadcasts, an extended version will be available for view and download at CarolinaHurricanes.com.
"The online version of the spot has great viral potential and allows Caniacs the opportunity to email it to their friends", said Howard Sadel, Director of Marketing and Creative Services for the Hurricanes.
The first installment is set in the living room of a less-than-excited Caniac getting ready to visit the old mother in-law. You may recognize "Marvin" as Kyle Prairie, Director of Ticket Sales for the Hurricanes. His lovely and perhaps annoying wife is none other than Meredith Morgan, a Corporate Sales Executive for the team.
"We could have used outside talent," said Sadel. "But we saw an opportunity to incorporate the team's staff, keeping everyone in the office involved."
The lovely home used as the set for this shoot belongs to St Lawrence Homes President/CEO Bob Ohman. The Hurricanes thank Bob and his wife for their tremendous support of the team and for letting us "make ourselves at home."
The next "Stay Sharp" spot is currently in production. Skate to CarolinaHurricanes.com for its debut.
