RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the details of the team’s annual holiday community day, to take place on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
At 1:30 p.m., groups of Hurricanes players will visit REX Hospital, UNC Children’s Hospital, Duke Children’s Hospital and WakeMed Children’s Hospital to spread holiday cheer. Players will hand out blankets and Hurricanes items, and will take pictures and sign autographs as they visit with patients.
Later on Wednesday at Crabtree Valley Mall, five Hurricanes players will join five children from the Durham Nativity School to help them shop for holiday gifts for their families. The shopping event will begin at 4 p.m.
Also at 4 p.m., two Hurricanes players will meet 20 children from East Durham Children’s Initiative, a 2014-15 KNCF GOAL Grant Recipient, at the Ice Factory skating rink at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. There, the children will get to enjoy an hour of skating and interacting on the ice with the players.
