The Carolina Hurricanes are headed to Hockeyville USA.

Lakeview Arena in Marquette, Mich., has been selected as Kraft Hockeyville USA 2016. As such, they will receive $150,000 in arena upgrades and will host an NHL preseason game televised on NBCSN.

The Hurricanes will face off with the Buffalo Sabres in that preseason game, which will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

“We’re thrilled to be involved with this initiative, which highlights the grassroots of our sport,” General Manager Ron Francis said in a statement. “I grew up about three hours from Marquette, so it will be fun to be on the Upper Peninsula to be a part of this special event.”

The Hurricanes have one other confirmed preseason game on the books: another neutral-site engagement against the Buffalo Sabres in Francis’ hometown of Sault Ste. Marie at the Essar Center on Wednesday, Oct. 5. The remainder of the team’s preseason schedule will be announced within the next few months. The Hurricanes’ complete 2016-17 regular-season schedule will be released in late June.
