— The National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and the team’s broadcast partner Fox Sports Carolinas today announced Fox Sports Carolinas’ 65-game television package for the 2009-10 NHL season. Fox Sports Carolinas’ coverage of live Hurricanes games includes 35 of the team’s 41 road games and 30 match-ups at the RBC Center throughout the 82-game regular season. As always, John Forslund will handle the play-by-play duties while former professional goaltender Tripp Tracy will provide analysis.

Fox Sports Carolinas’ coverage will kick off with Opening Night on Friday, Oct. 2 as the Hurricanes host the Philadelphia Flyers. The network’s coverage continues the following night as Carolina visits Boston in the first of seven road games in October, all of which will be televised by Fox Sports Carolinas.

Following nine televised games in November, Fox Sports Carolinas will cover 12 of the Hurricanes’ 13 games in December. The December television schedule includes road games at Washington, Pittsburgh and New Jersey, as well as Carolina’s annual New Year’s Eve home game, this year against the New York Rangers.

As the calendar turns to 2010, 34 of Carolina’s final 42 regular-season games will be televised, including the Feb. 13 game against New Jersey when the Hurricanes will send off their players selected to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, B.C. Fox Sports Carolinas’ coverage of the 2009-10 Hurricanes schedule concludes with 15 of the team’s final 16 regular-season games, including road match-ups at Washington, Pittsburgh, Montreal and Boston.

Information regarding high-definition telecasts of Hurricanes games on Fox Sports Carolinas will be announced in the coming weeks. The Hurricanes’ 2009-10 television schedule is posted above this story.
