RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reached a flagship radio agreement with Capitol Broadcasting Company. The three-year agreement will make WCMC 99.9 FM, “99.9 Genuine Country,” the home of the Hurricanes Radio Network, including pre- and post-game shows and ancillary programming.
“We’re delighted to partner with Capitol Broadcasting for our radio broadcasts,” said Rutherford. “This is an extension of our relationship with Jim Goodmon and everyone at Capitol.”
WCMC will broadcast all of the team’s pre-season, regular-season and post-season games beginning in September 2007 through the end of the 2009-10 season. WCMC also will produce and broadcast weekly programming focused on the Hurricanes.
“Capitol Broadcasting Company has been a big fan of the Hurricanes from the beginning and I have wanted to do the radio broadcasts since we put 99.9 Genuine Country on the air,” said Jim Goodmon, President and CEO of Capitol Broadcasting. “I’m delighted we worked this out with the Hurricanes.”
Along with the radio elements of the agreement, Capitol Broadcasting will enhance the Hurricanes section of its market-leading news website WRAL.com. WRAL.com will offer streaming and downloadable audio and video of Hurricanes-related programming from WCMC, as well as enhanced coverage of the team.
