TONIGHT’S GAME


The Carolina Hurricanes enter tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers with a 6-6-3 record in the team’s first 15 games of the season…Carolina is 2-3-0 in its last five games after being shutout last night against the New York Islanders, 2-0…Following tonight’s game, the Hurricanes return home to host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, November 13.

The Carolina Hurricanes and the Philadelphia Flyers meet tonight for the second of four games this season…Carolina trails 19-39-10 in the all-time series and is 9-22-3 in Philadelphia after defeating the Flyers, 2-0, on October 7…The Hurricanes are 2-1-1 in their last four games in Philadelphia…Last season, the Flyers won the four-game season series 2-0-2…The two teams face-off next at the Entertainment and Sports Arena on January 11, 2000.

Ron Francis tallied a goal and an assist and Arturs Irbe collected 30 saves as the Carolina Hurricanes shutout the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-0, on October 7. Francis scored the game’s first goal at 4:52 of the first period and notched an assist on Bates Battaglia’s second period goal to move into seventh place on the NHL’s all-time points list (1,489). Irbe, in his second consecutive start, recorded 15 of his 30 saves in the second period to earn his 20th career shutout and seventh with the Hurricanes.
