TORONTO - The Carolina Hurricanes today announced their roster for the team's participation in Phase 4 of the National Hockey League's Return to Play Plan.

The Canes' roster features the maximum of 31 players, including 16 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goalies.

Included on the roster is defenseman Brett Pesce, who remains sidelined after undergoing surgery in the spring. His recovery time of four to six months puts him in position for a potential September return, though he is not currently with the team.

"He's on track for what was supposed to happen, I think, so that's still a ways away," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "There are a lot of factors you have to weigh out on this."

Also included on the team's Phase 4 roster are a couple players who did not make appearances in Phase 3 training camp, including Clark Bishop and Roland McKeown.

All four goaltenders in Phase 3 camp made the trek to Toronto, where the Canes had a goaltending adventure to remember five months ago.

Carolina faces the Washington Capitals in an exhibition game on Wednesday, July 29 at 4 p.m. The Canes then begin their best-of-five Stanley Cup Qualifiers series against the New York Rangers on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 12 p.m.
