RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Tuukka Tieksola on a three-year, entry-level contract. At the NHL level, the deal will pay Tieksola $750,000 in the first two seasons of the contract and $775,000 in the third season. He will earn $70,000 at the AHL level for all three seasons, and he will receive $195,000 in signing bonuses.

"Tuukka took major strides playing in the top Finnish league this season," said Waddell. "He is a dynamic player and we're excited for him to take the next steps in his development."
Tieksola, 19, split the 2020-21 season between Karpat (Liiga) and Karpat U20 (Jr. A SM-liiga). He tallied 18 points (9g, 9a) in 37 Liiga games with Karpat and recorded nine points (3g, 6a) in nine games with Karpat U20 this season. The 5'10", 146-pound forward has skated in 103 career games with Karpat U20, posting 130 points (45g, 85a). He registered 61 points (27g, 34a) in 2019-20, earning Jr. A SM-liiga Best Forward and First Team All-Star honors. In 2018-19, Tieksola was named the Jr. A SM-liiga Rookie of the Year after leading the league with 45 assists, and he added seven points (3g, 4a) in 11 playoff games as Karpat U20 won the Jr. A. SM-liiga title. The Jaali, Finland, native was selected by Carolina in the fourth round, 121st overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft.
