Canes Activate Harrison from Injured Reserve

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has activated defenseman Jay Harrison from injured reserve. The team also placed goaltender Cam Ward on injured reserve, retroactive to Dec. 31.

Harrison, 31, has missed the Hurricanes’ last six games after sustaining a concussion on Dec. 21 at Tampa Bay. The Oshawa, Ont., native has scored two goals, earned five assists (7 points) and averaged 15:38 of ice time per game in 32 games played this season. Harrison (6’4”, 211 lbs.) is in his fifth season with the Hurricanes, and has scored 18 goals and earned 38 assists (65 points) in 261 games with Carolina since signing as a free agent with the team on July 9, 2009.
